Bellabeat, the company that makes health trackers designed to look like jewelry, has developed an app for expecting parents.

The Bellabeat Leaf Urban, which launches today, hits all three marks. It's a pebble-like device with a leaf pattern on it (think Elven elegance) and can be worn as a bracelet, a necklace, or a clip.

Waggl, a simple way to crowdsource insight from a group of people, released new data today that indicates a significant gap between the intention and actual practice of business and HR leaders in listening to their employees.

Bellabeat filled this gap in the market with its first device, Shell, which allows pregnant women to hear, record and send their unborn baby’s heartbeat to friends and relatives, while also acting as a baby monitor, music player and home-monitoring device, once the baby is born.

Both the Apple Watch and FitBit have just one woman on their development teams, and Pebble's founding team had none. But newcomer Bellabeat, originally founded in Croatia, is an anomaly in that it is a tech company run by women -- its founder and chief medical officer are women -- and it's the only company actively making consumer health products specifically for women. The result? Explosive sales to female consumers.

Bellabeat's latest is the limited-edition Leaf, nature-inspired smart jewelry that helps track activity, sleep, stress, and nutrition.

BellaBeat co-founder and COO Urska Srsen's focus on female health and fitness goes way back. You might even say she inherited that passion from her mother, an obstetrician and gynecologist heading the perinatology department at Slovenia's University Clinical Center.
