Local entrepreneurs are bringing a mobile café to the streets of Chattanooga soon. Andrew Clark and Laura Cagle are finalizing plans for the launch later this month of Wheelys Chattanooga, which will be set up in high-traffic pedestrian locales in and around the core downtown area.

The Wheelys Café campaign launched on FundedByMe on Monday, June 27th, has confirmed more than €350,000 from 78 investors in the first 18 hours. This is according to information provided by FundedByme. Wheelys Inc is a Swedish Y Combinator startup operating “hi-tech organic bike cafés in 50 countries.

Two years ago, the 27 year old applied for a barista job at a Starbucks in Stockholm. She didn’t get the job, she says, because her hair was “too blue.” The rejection inspired her to set out to sell her own coffee, so she founded Wheelys, a solar-powered bike café franchise. She’s managed to participate in the Y Combinator accelerator and start a global company in a matter of two years.

Orlando Tech’s Executive Director is bringing another out-of-the-box opportunity to Downtown Orlando, this one coming in the form of a coffee shop on wheels. Wheely’s Orlando is part of the Wheely’s Coffee chain that successfully launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund a line of the coffee carts.
